Our Story

Creating this Space

Created out of a need to provide local art therapists in the north a space to practice from which felt less clinical and more authentic to the arts therapy approach.

Our beautiful art studio was once an empty, dusty room on top of the Stables Shopping Center which had been untenanted for many many months. In December 2021, right after the end of Melbourne's historically long lockdowns, Alana discovered this space and was in awe of it's beautiful window view of vibrant treetops and perfect size. She started work on transforming it into a her vision of a warm and welcoming Art Therapy studio. A place where people could visit to work alongside an Arts Therapist and feel supported use art and creativity for self-expression, healing and mental health support.

In January 2022, the Yellow Gum Art Therapy Studio opened to offer Art Therapy, Play Therapy, Counselling and Art Therapy Groups.

Our Name

The Yellow Gum

The Yellow Gum tree (Eucalyptus leucoxylon) is indigenous to southeastern Australia. It's striking blooms in shades of white, pink, and red, are not only beautiful but also a vital source of nectar for wildlife. It can soar up to 30 meters tall and has the ability to thrive in a variety of environments.

We love this tree as a symbol of growth, nurturance, adaptability and resilience.
